Cops! Riots! Looting! Mayhem! Am I talking about current events? No! It's my own top choice for this weekend's movie: Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol! If anything, my zeal for this candidate has only intensified since I first raised it on our last Zoom after Barbarella. Join Steve Guttenberg and his usual band of merry misfits (and yes, that includes the guy who does the noises) as they wreak sexy havoc and madcap hijinks throughout the cityscape of an unnamed American metropolis in the late 1980s! This film boasts both incredible contemporary relevance and the type of aerostat-based denouement (with or without Christopher Walken) that I feel is de rigueur in any filmed entertainment worth its salt (oh, come off it, it's spoiled by the poster anyway). Anyone else? No? That's fine, then I'm totally on board with Alita. |
